Simone Silva focusing her research activities  in the developing innovative green processing routes to obtain new polymeric matrices using both renewable sources (as e.g. chitin/chitosan, silk fibroin, soy protein). In these approaches, the use of ionic liquids has been investigated. She also working with medicinal plantas for use in tissue engineering of cartilage and skin using combination of porous structures/membranes with primary cells and stem cells.

Background

PhD in Materials Science and Technology – Biomaterials by University of Minho in cooperation with University of Trento (Italy) and University of Aveiro (Portugal); Master Degree (MSc) in Chemistry by Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (Natal, Brasil); Graduation in Chemical Engineering (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, Brasil).
